Special artist’s project

Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo is committed to promote contemporary art not only through exhibitions but also through the commissioning and production of entirely new works of art.

Among several works there are “Modello di Campo 6” by Tobias Rehberger, winner of Regione Piemonte prize and displayed at the Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Turin since 1997; the personal exhibition of Doug Aitken “New Ocean”, 2003, also presented at Serpentine Gallery, London and at Kunsthaus, Bregenz; the international co-production of Douglas Gordon’s e Philippe Parreno’s international movie “Zidane”. “A 21st Century Portrait”, in collaboration with Palomar Pictures and Anna Lena Films; the exhibition “YouPrison” an investigation on the limitation of space and freedom, where 11 international architectural studios, among which Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Jeffrey Inaba, projected and created prison units.

The Fondazione supports artists by presenting their work during international expositional occasions such the Venice Biennial where works by Doug Aitken (1999), Maurizio Cattelan (2001), Luisa Lambri (1999), Steve McQueen (2007) and Goshka Macuga (2009) were displayed.

A particular attention is paid to young artists; the Fondazione has thus produced works for personal exhibitions by Giuseppe Gabellone (2000), Patrick Tuttofuoco (2006), Diego Perrone (2005) and for the collective exhibition Ambient Tour with Christian Frosi, Deborah Ligorio and Flavio Favelli.

For the decennial project “Da Guarene all’Etna” the Fondazione is supporting the young Italian photography field by commissioning pictures narrating the landscape as well as the Italian cultural and social geography.
