Palazzo Re Rebaudengo is a listed, extensive 18th century historic palazzo with various levels separated by stairs and small ramps.
The space was reconditioned as an exhibition space by the architects Corrado Levi, Alessandra Raso and Alberto Rolla, based on a project that withheld and complimented the original structure and architecture of the building. The Palazzo was officially opened as an exhibition space in 1997. Since its launch, the venue has hosted numerous exhibitions and events, book launches and film screenings, debates, conferences and educational workshops organised by the Fondazione. The prestigious prizes ‘Premio Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo’ and ‘Premio Regione Piemonte’ were first set up here, whereby an international jury awarded some of today’s biggest internationally acclaimed artists for their work.
In 2006, a new wing divided up into self-contained apartments and work areas was built on to the palazzo. Apart from the other activities, this new area is used to accommodate the recently established Young Curators Residency Programme, run by Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in collaboration with Fondazione Eduardo Garrone in Genoa.
