FACE Group

FACE (Foundation of Arts for a Contemporary Europe) is a newly formed European interest group for the arts established by private collectors who have set up public spaces for the production and promotion of contemporary art. This new alliance aims at broadening and empowering the scope of their activities through ambitious international projects. Current FACE Partners are: the DESTE Foundation, Athens (Greece), Ellipse Foundation, Cascais (Portugal), Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin (Italy),
La Maison Rouge, Paris  (France) and Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall (Sweden).

First presented at the European Parliament in Brussels in 2008, the FACE project is a not-for-profit exercise, set up for the support and promotion of contemporary art. In particular, FACE Partner Foundations aim to work towards: promoting contemporary art in Europe and the rest of the world; supporting artists by producing and exhibiting new work; bringing an ever-growing public closer to contemporary art and culture; promoting the activities and the art collections of each partner foundation through exchange and by working as a collective, organizing and curating exhibitions of works in the collections and other arts projects.

FACE presented its first exhibition, collectively organised and curated by the group, at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin from 21 October 2009 to 4 March 2010. The exhibition, entitled Investigations of a Dog and featuring major works in the collections, will thereafter travel to the other partner venues.
