For the exhibition 21X21 Artisti per il 21° Secolo (Artist for the 21st Century), the Educational Department has organized:

“21X21 Artist for the 21st Century” and Alberto Garutti, Tours for Schools:

Primary school: “I think about the sky and…”

The tour starts with a visit spirited by questions, associative and visual art games to a further selection of works from the exhibition “21X21 Artist for the 21st Century” to finally focus on the project “Thunderstorms” by Alberto Garutti who combines poetry and science, nature and culture, technique and imagination, the artist and the local communities.

Garutti’s work is a big bright object similar to a chandelier whose light bulbs simultaneously shine each time lightning strikes the Italian territory. The light bulbs from full power decrease intensity until they finally fade.

Light, sky and lightning are images that accompany the children throughout this tour and along the production of a collective work in progress set up in the workshop room.

Key words

Creative and poetic process, technology and science within the art world, innovation and tradition, territory and community, progress, metaphor and light.

Middle School and High School (Discover the backstage of a work of art)

“The lights of this chandelier vibrate each time lighting strikes Italy during a thunderstorm. This work of art is for all of the people who in that particular moment are thinking about the sky” Alberto Garutti

The visit starts with a guided tour through a selection of works of art belonging to the exhibition “21X21 Artist for the 21st Century” to uncover the working process, applied research, technical solutions and innovations behind the piece of work, beginning from the original idea to the final work.

Students will later focus on the project “Thunderstorms” by Alberto Garutti who combines poetry and science, nature and culture, technique and imagination, the artist and the local communities.

Garutti’s work is a big bright object similar to a chandelier whose light bulbs simultaneously shine each time lightning strikes the Italian territory. The light bulbs from full power decrease intensity until they finally fade.

The backstage of Garutti’s work will be presented through a video interview specifically shot for this workshop, thus directly from the mouth of the artist who will answer questions regarding his art allowing students to fully experience the creative and production process.

Light, sky, and lightning are images that accompany students throughout this tour until the final stage where participants are asked to answer to the Artist’s dedication by producing a collective work in progress in the workshop room.

The most interesting and original works will be collected and shared during a specific display at the end of each exhibition held at the Fondazione.
